Foreword

Chinese Mission Seminary (CMS) was founded by Rev. Jonathan Chao (1938-2004), who devoted his life to serve the Chinese people and help promote theological education. He first established the “Chinese Church Research Center” to study Chinese culture and churches. During a retreat of the Research Center, the staff earnestly prayed and received a vision in unison: to build a seminary in Hong Kong that emphasized mission, in response to the yearning for theological training for Chinese people and the fulfillment of The Great Commission. Under the leadership of Rev. Chao, Chinese Mission Seminary was established after three years of preparation. The seminary aims at cultivating spiritually minded Christian evangelists, pastors and researchers for the mission work of Chinese people.
